The holes are just big enough for the gold finches to get the seeds out but to small for the aggressive house finches that are here in So. California. Now that the house finches don't come around I have 40+ gold finches feeding on this feeder (not all at once but 10 can feed on this feeder at one time) and in my garden! I highly recommend this :)
